NOT PROVEN

Andrew Collins and Gregory L Little. Origin of the Gods. Bear & Co. 2022.

Andrew Collins and Gregory L. Little present a provocative and controversial theory about the origins of human civilization. They argue that our ancestors were not the first intelligent beings on Earth, and that they were aided by extraterrestrial beings in their development of technology and culture.
🔽
They support their theory with a wide range of evidence, including, the presence of megalithic structures all over the world, which they argue could not have been built by humans without the help of advanced technology, and the existence of ancient myths and legends about gods and other supernatural beings, which they believe are based on real encounters with extraterrestrials. They also cite occurrences of anomalous phenomena such as UFO sightings and crop circles, which they believe are evidence of ongoing extraterrestrial contact.

While their theory is certainly intriguing, it is also highly speculative and unproven. Their  evidence is often circumstantial and open to interpretation, and they often make sweeping generalizations about human history and culture. Moreover, their theory is based on a number of assumptions that are not supported by the evidence. For example, they assume that megalithic structures could not have been built by humans without the help of advanced technology, but there is no evidence to support this claim. They also assume that ancient myths and legends are based on real encounters with extraterrestrials, but again there is no way to prove this, and much evidence in the history of myth, religion and folklore to prove otherwise.

In addition to the criticisms mentioned above, there are a few other things to keep in mind when reading Origin of the Gods. First, it is important to note that Collins and Little are not scientists. They are both writers and journalists, and they have no formal training in archaeology, anthropology, or any other relevant field. This means that they are not qualified to assess the evidence they present, and it is important to remember that Collins and Little are by no means the first people to propose the idea that extraterrestrials have visited Earth in the past.

In the end, Origin of the Gods is an interesting and thought-provoking book, but it is not a work of serious scholarship. Collins and Little's theory is highly speculative and unproven, and is based on a number of assumptions that are not supported by the evidence. If you are interested in learning more about the possibility of extraterrestrial contact, this book may be worth reading, but it is important to keep in mind that it is not a reliable source of information.
