SEARCHING THE PAPERWORK

John Greenewald Jr. Inside The Black Vault; The Government's UFO Secrets Revealed. Rowman and Littlefield, 2019.

First the good news. By today's standards this is both an inexpensive book and an easy one to read – telling the stories in short digestible chunks. The author runs popular US website 'The Black Vault' based on government files. It is also true that it does what it sets out to do – describe some well known UFO cases (mostly American for obvious reasons) in a way free of 'unverifiable' information'.

STILL A DANGEROUS BUSINESS

It's been a while since I last commented on American ufology, and its most public face, the MUFON organisation, and after I posted those notes it did seem that MUFON's monthly magazine was showing a more rational and critical attitude, in keeping with its stated aims of "analytical and scientific investigation of the UFO phenomenon" and published several quite interesting pieces. However any pretence of scientific objectivity seems to be jettisoned with the July 2011 number. Six and a half pages are given over to a feature called 'Big Questions in Ufology'.

ELECTION NIGHT DRAMA

Well, the votes are in and the counts completed in the great Disclosure Polls, here and on Kevin Randle's blog. The first thing to note is how many more people responded to Kevin's poll than to mine, which is probably a fair reflection of our blogs' respective standing in the UFO 'community'

'DISCLOSURE' POLL

Time, I think, for another of our totally unscientific liitle polls. Over on Kevin Randle's excellent blog (http://kevinrandle.blogspot.com/) he has just concluded a poll on 'Disclosure' - governments coming out and admitting that UFOs are visiting the Earth and they know all about it. The results are interesting, with over 50% believing that disclosure won't happen 'for years'. Just 17% think that it is 'at hand' or will happen 'soon'.
